AmeriCup 2022 Tournament Structure:

The Group Phase of the competition will take place from September 2-6, with the 12 countries grouped into three groups of four teams each. This stage of the competition follows a round-robin style, in which each team plays each other team in its group once, for a total of three games per team and 18 games overall. The Group Phase will reduce the field from 12 to eight teams, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-place teams from the Group Phase advancing to the Final Phase. The remaining eight teams will compete in a single-elimination style in the Final Phase. The teams will be ranked based on their Group Phase results and will compete in the following quarterfinal pairings on September 8:

  • Game 19: Best 1st placed team vs. Second-best 3rd place team
  • Game 20: Second-best 1st set team vs. Best 3rd place team
  • Game 21: Remaining 1st set team vs. lowest 2nd established team
  • Game 22: Best 2nd established team vs. Second-best 2nd placed team

The winners of the quarterfinals will progress to the semifinals on September 10 in the following pairings:

  • Game 23: Winner Game 19 vs. Winner Game 22
  • Game 24: Winner Game 20 vs. Winner Game 21

The semifinal winners will progress to the gold medal game, while the semifinal losers will compete for third place on the final day of action on September 11:
