After several exciting games in the group round, the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 is about to enter the quarterfinals on Thursday. More significant matchups will come during this competition stage (September 29).

At the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 tournament in Sydney, the United States and Australia are now in first and second place among the eight teams who have successfully qualified for the knockout stage. The following is the order in which they will play on the day of the quarterfinals (September 29).

As the defending champions, the United States, led by A’ja Wilson, cruised through Group A with a perfect 5-0 record, shattering the record for most points scored in a World Cup game and the record for most consecutive wins at a World Cup. This accomplishment earned them a spot in the round of eight.

China (4-1), Belgium (3-2), and Puerto Rico (2-3), who are making history by advancing to the final eight for the first first time, are the other teams from Group A that will join the United States in the quarterfinals.

After losing their tournament first game against France, the hosts, Australia, recovered and finished first in the fiercely competitive Group B. (4-1).

The Opals received tremendous support from the home crowd in Sydney, where spectators had assembled to watch the return of the legendary basketball player Lauren Jackson, now 41 years old. They have even more reason to celebrate now because their squad is in first place in a complex pool.

Canada came in second place with the same record as they started. However, they suffered their lone defeat in the group stage at the hands of Australia.

Serbia and France advanced, finishing in third and fourth place respectively with three victories and two defeats respectively.

The victor of this year’s competition will not only take home the World Cup but will also be guaranteed a spot in the tournament that will take place in Paris in 2024. Because of this, everything is up for grabs when the knockout rounds begin.

Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 quarterfinals schedule:

Six teams were divided into two pools for the beginning of the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup on September 22. After that, the top four teams in each pool could advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for Thursday, September 29.

All games will be broadcast on Fubo TV, Paramount+.
