About UEFA Europa League
The UEFA Europa League is an annual tournament. organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and contested by European clubs. It is considered the second-tier competition of European club football, ranking below the UEFA Champions League.
The UEFA Europa League was formerly called the UEFA Cup and was first held in 1971. This competition has been known as the UEFA Europa League since 2009. It is the third most prestigious European club football tournament after the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
A total of forty-eight clubs participate in the group stage of the competition, with 24 of them qualifying directly from the UEFA Champions League and the other 24 coming from the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. The group stage is followed by a knockout stage involving 32 teams, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final.
The winner of the UEL qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup and faces the UCL winner, since 2014, the following season’s UEFA Champions League, entering the group stage. They also enter the FIFA Club World Cup in the same year as their UEFA Europa League victory.

The most successful club in this UEL is Spanish side Sevilla, with five titles. Italian clubs have the second most titles, with three. English and French clubs have each won two titles.
Portuguese side Porto is the only club to have won the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, having accomplished the feat in 1987. Spanish side Barcelona is the only club to have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup, having accomplished the feat in 1992. English side Liverpool is the only club to have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup, having accomplished the feat in 2019.
