WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang 2022 Preview:
Sun Yingsha is the world’s number one.
Sun Yingsha enters Xinxiang as the defending WTT Cup Finals champion, having appeared in four WTT Series tournaments this year, earning her an astonishing 2470 points towards her global ranking total. That alone would be sufficient for a Top 10 ranking. Despite her continuous deep runs, Sun has only won one title this year. WTT Champions Macao awarded the trophy just a few weeks ago. In Xinxiang, the pressure is on. Can Sun end the year as the world’s number one for the first time in her career?
World No.2 Chen Meng
Chen Meng began the year as the world’s number one player, sitting on the perch. The 2022 season was then launched with a massive victory at Singapore Smash. Chen has only competed in one WTT Series event since then, where she lost in the round of 16 to Bernadette Szocs at WTT Champions Macao. The Chinese star will be in the spotlight as she steps out with a lot of points to defend at the WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang.
Manyu Wang | World No.3
Wang Manyu is as consistent as they come, having spent 31 weeks as the World No.3 heading into Xinxiang. Wang has had many highlights in 2022, including winning the inaugural WTT Champions event in Budapest and reaching the final of Singapore Smash. Wang will be out for vengeance tomorrow after losing in the first round to Jia Nan Yuan last week at WTT Champions Macao. Despite winning the World Championship, Wang Manyu has never been the World No.1, peaking at No.2 in July 2018. Wang has lots of chances to improve on her current position after scoring only 100 points at last year’s WTT Cup Finals.
