Aside from the United States, India will face Morocco and mighty Brazil in their subsequent group matches on October 14 and 17, respectively. All of India’s group matches will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

India will most likely be captained by Astam Oraon, who led the squad on the previous exposure tour to Spain, and will be coached by Sweden’s Thomas Dennerby, a former Nigeria women’s football team coach.

In total, 16 countries will compete for four quarter-final positions, divided evenly across four groups. The top two from each group will advance.

Champions in the making Spain is in Group C, while Japan, the 2014 champions who have also finished runners-up twice, is in Group D. North Korea, the event’s most successful team with two titles, will not participate in the biannual tournament.

The semi-finals will be hosted at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa, with the final taking place on October 30 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was originally slated for 2020 in India, however, it was postponed due to COVID-19.

The junior women’s World Cup will be India’s second major FIFA event, following the hosting of the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup in 2017.
