The son of the previous world titleholder after whom Rahman is named arranged an unlikely bout with Vitor Belfort, giving Rahman a stronger claim to being a genuine boxer than Paul.

After Lewis got his own back for that shocking loss in 2001, Rahman continued to win multiple fights in a row despite losing to heavyweights like Wladimir Klitschko and lightweights like Alexander Povetkin.
Before challenging for the WBC version of the U.S. belt his father had won, Rahman Jr. went 11-0 with six knockouts.
Rahman Jr. was knocked down for a second time by James Morrison in Las Vegas, prompting the referee to stop the bout. This was Rahman Jr.’s tenth fight in the United States; the others had all taken place in Mexico.
The 31-year-old has gained over 241,000 followers on Instagram and seems ready to combine fields to advance his career.
An online critic claimed that six amateurs had knocked out Rahman Jr., and in response, Rahman Jr. declared he wanted “all the smoke” and defended his record.
“I never touched the canvas until my last bout,” shot back Rahman Jr. “Believe it or not, I actually make my living as a professional fighter. In this battle, I intend to aim for the maximum possible reward.”

Belfort, often known as “The Phenom,” had a professional mixed martial arts career that spanned from 1996 up to 2018 (compared to nearly 20 years for Rahman senior in boxing).
The Brazilian entered the UFC in 1997 and won the light heavyweight title in 2004; nevertheless, Randy Couture got his own back that same year.
Between 2005 to 2009, Belfort competed in promotions like Pride and Cage Rage before returning to the UFC and losing a middleweight bout against Anderson Silva.
After a failed title defence against Jon Jones in 2012, he knocked out Michael Bisping in Sao Paulo the following year to reclaim his former belt.
Belfort had 26 victories from 41 fights and 18 knockouts before he announced his retirement from the UFC in May 2018.
A return to the ring for Belfort in September 2021 saw him face off against boxing icon Evander Holyfield in Florida. His lone previous official boxing match had been won in 2006 against Josemario Neves in Brazil.
