Barcelona vs. Manchester City Preview:
On Wednesday night at 9.30 pm CEST, FC Barcelona will play Manchester City in a friendly match. The game is much more than just football- all of the proceeds from the game will be donated to research into ALS. ALS is a progressive nervous system disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control. There is currently no known cure for ALS.
Both teams have strong squads with a lot of world-class players. However, it is worth noting that this will be a friendly match and neither team will be going all out to win. Therefore, the game may not be as exciting as some people might hope. Nevertheless, it should still be an enjoyable match to watch nonetheless.
Two top European football clubs, Barcelona and Manchester City are playing a charity match to support a former assistant coach of Pep Guardiola’s who has a disease. The match is called “A Great Game for a Greater Cause.”
All proceeds from the match will go to the Juan Carlos Unzué Foundation, which is dedicated to researching a disease called multiple system atrophy (MSA).
Unzué was diagnosed with MSA two years ago and has since been a fervent campaigner to raise funds for its investigation. He is currently the coach of Girona FC in Spain’s LaLiga.
In association with FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, this game between two of Europe’s biggest football clubs is expected to do wonders for such a good cause.
We hope this match will help raise awareness of MSA and provide much-needed funds for research into this disease.
Both teams have started their league campaigns. Some things went well, while others didn’t. Man City drew 3-3 against Newcastle on Sunday in a very exciting game. On the other hand, Barcelona lost 0-0 in their first game but came back to win 4-1. Each team should put on a good show for their friend and colleague who is attending the game.
Barcelona vs. Manchester City Why to Play and How to watch:
Some people are playing a soccer game to raise money for a charity that helps people with a disease. The game is being shown on TV in the United States and other countries. You can watch it online if you pay for it. Some of the money from ticket sales and other things will go to the charity.
Many fans wonder why Man City is playing Barcelona in a friendly match. After all, these two clubs are fierce rivals in the Champions League. However, the game is being played for an excellent cause. The battle has been set up to support ALS research on behalf of former Pep Guardiola assistant Juan Carlos Unzue, who was diagnosed with the disease in early 2020. Unzue was an assistant at Barcelona from 2003-2010 and again from 2014-2017. He overlapped with Guardiola at the club from 2007-2010 before being hired away as the manager of Numancia. Unzue then took charge of Racing Santander before joining Celta Vigo as an assistant and then returning to Barcelona. The 55-year-old would take charge of Celta Vigo and Girona before his health forced him to retire. Unzue also played briefly for Barcelona during his playing career, making five appearances for the club as a goalkeeper between 1988-1990. All ticket sales and in-stadium match proceeds will go towards ALS research, with the game benefitting the Luzon Foundation.
If you’re in the USA, you can watch the match on CBS Sports Network. The channel is available to stream on fuboTV. The game will also be broadcast around the globe via both clubs’ premium streaming services. Barcelona will make the match available via BarcaTV+, while Man City is making the match accessible on both of the club’s streaming services, City+ and Man City Recast. City+ is a season-long subscription service to access all Man City content, similar to BarcaTV+, while Recast is a more cost-friendly pay-per-view subscription service offered by the Premier League side. So if you’re looking to watch an exciting match between two top clubs while also supporting a good cause, be sure to tune in!
