On October 8, Impact Wrestling Bound for Glory 2022 event has a legendary career and championships at stake. In Albany, New York’s Washington Avenue Armory, one of the most significant events in Impact’s history occurs.
All titles will be defended, with Josh Alexander defending the Impact World Title versus Eddie Edwards of Honor No More as the main event. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett defend the Impact World Tag Team Championships against the Motor City Machine Guns’ Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.
The knockouts will be in action as Jordynne Grace defends the Impact Knockouts Title against Masha Slamovich, a difficult opponent. Jessicka and Taya Valkyrie challenge Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts Tag Team Titles. Mickie James, whose retirement tale parallels Ric Flair, will risk her career against Mia Yim.

Whoever wins the trophy will always have the IMPACT champions watching over their shoulder. The winner of this challenge can challenge for any title at any time. The winner from the previous year, Moose, quickly capitalized on the opportunity. Moose promptly capitalized on Josh Alexander’s victory against Christian Cage by defeating him for the IMPACT World Championship.
PCO Rich Swann, Gisele Shaw, Heath, Bhupinder Gujjar, Bobby Fish, Moose, Steve Maclin, and Sami Callihan have entered the gauntlet as of the time of this writing. One of the twenty competitors will leave Bound for Glory with a crack at any championship at any time. Find out who emerges victorious this Friday evening.
World Championship: Josh Alexander (champion) vs. Eddie Edwards – IMPACT Title Match Even if the build-up has not felt the way you want the main event to feel, the match should be compelling. Edwards is a poor fit as a heel due to how he has been portrayed throughout his IMPACT career, and he has not yet acquired the promo skills of an elite villain.
Edwards’ accusation that the audience turned its back on him led to his joining Honor No More, and he can now claim the promotion’s prize. Alexander has been positioned as a franchise player in the role of a no-nonsense technical genius and can be effectively pushed as the company’s top wrestler. A history of discord between Alexander and Heath could play a role in the battle against Honor No More, which also has Rich Swann on the face team.
Knockouts Championship: Jordynne Grace (champion) vs. Masha Slamovich (unbeaten streak) — It’s Title vs. Unbeaten Streak, as Slamovich has dominated the promotion and reached the peak with the championship shot. Long-term, Mickie James is preparing for one more title fight, so it is debatable whether it is more beneficial to have Grace as the ‘last boss’ for James or to have the undefeated Slamovich in that role, and there are arguments for both positions. Slamovich is a newcomer to IMPACT, and they have done a fantastic job with her. Thus it seems sensible for her to win the championship, given all the effort they have put in.
X Division Championship: Speedball Champion Mike Bailey versus Frankie Kazarian — Since winning the championship at Slammiversary, Speedball has mounted nine title defenses (the record is thirteen, held by Christopher Daniels, Kazarian’s longtime tag team partner). I expect this fight to be one of the strongest on the night, as Kazarian almost never fails to deliver a solid performance. Bailey is enjoying a stellar season and advancing to the X Division championship. It makes perfect sense for Bailey’s streak of championship defenses to continue and for Daniels to be his opponent to end the streak.
Tag Team Championships: Motor City Machine Guns vs. Mike Bennett & Matt Taven for the IMPACT Tag Team Championships – Maria Kanellis recently revealed on the Grapsody podcast that she, Bennett, and Taven’s contracts with IMPACT are expiring shortly, and that could be a consideration. However, I believe it would make sense for all three to remain with the organization unless they receive more lucrative offers elsewhere. Regardless of the Machine Guns’ contract status, putting titles on their albums seems like a good moment. If so, it may be time to conclude the Honor No More subplot if Alexander and Machine Guns win their respective matches and IMPACT “win.”
Mickie James vs Mia Yim — They aired highlights of Yim’s loss to James in a 2010 match from Maryland Championship Wrestling, early in Yim’s career. This is only the beginning of “The Last Rodeo,” so James must win, and I’d expect them to work this bout as two babyfaces, even though the fans should be rooting for James, given that her career is on the line in each match.
Knockouts Tag Team Championships: Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green challenge Taya Valkyrie and Jessicka for the Knockouts Tag Team Championships. I believe Purrazzo and Green have an extraordinary act together and would recommend retaining their championships. Purrazzo is one of IMPACT’s better acquisitions from WWE over the past several years, and he has evolved significantly as a performer in this organization. Rosemary is not sold on Jessicka and may be signaling a turn, but Taya plays the role of peacemaker for the challengers.
Digital Media Championship: Champion Brian Myers vs. TBA
