Tonight’s WWE Backlash live stream appears to be the season’s greatest party, with Puerto Rico receiving its first WWE PPV/PLE since 2005’s New Year’s Revolution. It comes after what was possibly the most boisterous SmackDown history last night when the audience exploded for seemingly everyone.

And one of the main events on this card sees Bad Bunny return to the squared circle for another one-on-one match. San Benito is up against his former ally Damian Priest, who has been on a tear since they teamed up at WrestleMania 37. Bunny returns to WrestleMania to assist Rey Mysterio in defeating Priest’s Judgement Day ally Dominik Mysterio, thereby setting the stage for the rest of the match.

WWE Backlash Preview:

Cody Rhodes is attempting to avenge his WrestleMania loss to Roman Reigns in the other main event. The American Nightmare squares off against Brock Lesnar, whose recent heel turn has gone unnoticed.

Rhea Ripley defends the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Zelina Vena, while Bianca Belair defends her Raw Women’s Championship against IYO SKY. Except, well, we anticipate that something will change.

There was no announcement at WWE’s pre-event press conference regarding the Saturday card. Since Belair was drafted to SmackDown and Ripley was drafted to Raw, we’re intrigued about whether Triple H rebrands the women’s championships.

However, The Game did reveal that the forthcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship competition will take place on both SmackDown and Raw. Two triple-threat contests on next Monday’s Raw and next week’s SmackDown will set up matches for the following night. The winners of those matches will compete for the new championship at Night of Champions.

WWE Backlash 2023 is making a huge comeback to Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny, a three-time Grammy Award winner, will host the next event Backlash in his native Puerto Rico. The show will include Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar, Sami Zayn, and The Bloodline. In a San Juan Street Fight, however, Bunny will be pitted against Damian Priest of The Judgement Day.

WWE hasn’t held a major event in Puerto Rico since 2005 when they went there for the New Year’s Revolution event. The first-time matchup between Rhodes and Lesnar is arguably the biggest bout announced for the night. At the end of the first Raw following WrestleMania 39, Lesnar shockingly turned on Rhodes. Rhodes’ intentions to get Roman Reigns in a rematch for the WWE global championship were set back by treachery.

Also confirmed for Backlash is a massive six-man tag team match. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, the current undisputed tag team champions, have teamed up with Riddle to take on Solo Sikoa and The Usos of The Bloodline. After Zayn and Owens ended Jey and Jimmy Uso’s record-setting title reign, the Uso brothers were seething with thoughts of revenge.
