All about UEFA Champions League Playoffs 2022/23

The UCL is an annual club football competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and contested by top-division European clubs. It’s one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most popular club competition in Europe. The ultimate of the 2022–23 tournament will be held at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on 10th June 2023.
The 2022–23 UEFA Champions League is going to be the 68th season of Europe’s premier club football tournament organized by UEFA and the 31st season since it was renamed from the European Champion Clubs’ Cup to the UEFA Champions League. This season’s final ultimate will be played at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

As defending UCL champion, Real Madrid will automatically qualify for the group stage. Also, UEFA Europa League champion Eintracht Frankfurt directly qualify for the UCL. they’re going to be joined by the champions of the top six nations in UEFA’s coefficient ranking list at the end of the 2021–22 season: Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Borussia Dortmund, and a complete of 26 teams will directly qualifying the UCL Group stage.
The other 6 Teams need to win the playoff round and qualify for the Group stage.
The playoff qualifiers of the 2022/23 UCL represent the ultimate hurdle to overcome for teams hoping to reach the lucrative group stage. The playoff matchups were confirmed following the draw on 2nd August.
There are only six places left unclaimed within the 32-team group stage and six teams aggregate-goal playoff matchups that will decide them.

The UCL playoff first leg was done already, and now we glance at the results.

  • Maccabi Haifa wins the primary leg by 3-2 against FK Crvena Zvezda.
    FK Crvena Zvezda is now struggling, Maccabi Haifa Forward Frantzdy Pierrot scored two goals, and Tjaronn Chery scored one. On the opposite hand, Crvena Zvezda Striker Aleksandar Pešić and Guélor Kanga scored two goals, and before halftime, they lead by 1 goal, but within the second half, Pierrot and Chery scored and won the match Maccabi Haifa.
  • FC Københavnn win by 2-1 against Trabzonspor.
    In 9 min Københavnn midfelder Viktor Claesson scored then Lukas Lerager double the lead then in 79 min Trabzonspor player Anastasios Bakasetas score and reduce the lead.
  • Bodo Glimt win by 1-0 against Dinamo Zagreb
    Amahl Pellegrino scored the solo goal of the match.
  • Qarabağ FK and Viktoria Plzeň match had no result, no team could score, and therefore the game was drawn by 0-0.
  • Rangers vs. PSV Eindhoven match was very interesting. Both teams scored twice and expecting the second leg.
  • Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Benfica
    Benfica was confirmed victory before the primary half. Gilberto and Gonçalo Ramos scored 9min, and 37min, then , no team could score.

If two teams are tied after playing one another twice in the Champions League, then a tiebreaker is going to be used to decide which team goes through to the next round. In the past, away goals were used because of the tiebreaker, but this year, the additional time and penalty kicks will be used instead. This is often a big deal because it’s a very prestigious tournament and there’s a lot of money riding on it. The teams that make it to the group stage will get to play against a number of most of the best teams in the world, and many people will be watching. So it’s really important that they are doing well.

The second leg was held on 24-25 August.
