Despite being only 16 years old, the centre-midfielder has steadily earned minutes in PSG’s crowded midfield. Manager Christophe Galtier has shown his faith in the teenager by giving him a significant role in PSG’s biggest game of the season so far.

Champions League matchday 5 Tuesday Previews:

Chelsea vs. FC Red Bull Salzburg

The only prior European match between FC Red Bull Salzburg and Chelsea was a 1-1 tie on MD2 earlier this season.

Chelsea has only played two away European matches in Austria, losing 1-0 at Weiner Sport-Club in the Fairs Cup in November 1965 and drawing 1-1 at FK Austria Wien in the Cup Winners’ Cup in November 1994.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? RB Salzburg has failed to beat Blackburn Rovers (D1 L1), Manchester City (L2), Liverpool (L2), and Chelsea in all seven European matches against English teams (D2 L5) (D1). It is the most teams from a single country they have faced without losing in major European competition.

FC Copenhagen vs. Sevilla

The only prior European match between Sevilla and FC Copenhagen was a goalless draw on MD2 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

FC Copenhagen is winless in their past 13 important European matches against Spanish teams (D5 L8), having lost their last three in Spain. Real Betis (lost 2-0), Mallorca (drawn 1-1), Valencia (drew 1-1), Barcelona (lost 2-0), Real Madrid (lost 4-0), and Atletico Madrid are their six away games in Spain (lost 1-0).

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? This will be FC Copenhagen’s sixth UEFA Champions League match against a Spanish team (D2 L3), with the Danish side only scoring one goal in the previous five – a 1-1 draw against Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in November 2010.

Milan vs. Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo Zagreb has lost all five of their European encounters versus Milan (including qualifiers). In their European history, no team has lost more games (also five vs Ajax).

Milan has won both of their European away games against Dinamo Zagreb, winning 3-1 in the Cup Winners’ Cup in September 1973 and 3-0 in a Champions League qualifier in August 2000.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Milan’s 100% record against Dinamo Zagreb – winning five out of five games against them – is their best against any side in their European history, with Zagreb being the only team they’ve met five times and won all five.

Celtic takes against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Celtic have won both of their previous home European meetings against Shakhtar Donetsk, winning 1-0 and 2-1 in the 2004-05 and 2007-08 UEFA Champions League group rounds, respectively.

In the five previous UEFA Champions League matches between Celtic and Shakhtar Donetsk, there has never been an away win, with four home wins and one draw in the most recent meeting on MD2 this season, drawing 1-1 in Poland.

Celtic and Shakhtar Donetsk have shared two victories in their past five UEFA Champions League group stage matches. Celtic drew 1-1 away from home in the reverse meeting earlier this season.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Shakhtar Donetsk have never won a UEFA Champions League away match against a British team, having lost eight of their nine trips in total (D1). They did, however, avoid loss in the most recent one, drawing 1-1 with Manchester City in November 2019.

Real Madrid vs. RB Leipzig

The sole prior European meeting between RB Leipzig and Real Madrid took place on MD2 of this season’s UEFA Champions League, with Madrid winning 2-0.

Real Madrid has only lost one of their last eight UEFA Champions League away games in Germany (W5 D2). They had lost 11 of their first 17 competition visits to Germany (W2 D4).

Following back-to-back wins in MD3 and MD4, RB Leipzig will be trying to win three consecutive UEFA Champions League games for the second time – they previously did so between February and August 2020, beating Spurs twice and Atlético Madrid once.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Real Madrid is unbeaten in its last 13 meetings against German teams in European competition (W9 D4), scoring at least two goals in each of these games (31 in total).

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has only won one of five UEFA Champions League games against Manchester City (D1 L3), a 1-0 home triumph in the 2012-13 group stage.

Manchester City has won all three of its UEFA Champions League games against Borussia Dortmund, all by a score of 2-1. In the Champions League, no team has ever beaten another by the same score in four consecutive games (Bayern Munich beat Arsenal 5-1 three in a row between 2015 and 2017).

Manchester City has won 14 of their past 16 UEFA Champions League games against German opponents (D1 L1), however, they did lose their most recent away encounter 2-1 to RB Leipzig. In the competition, City has won 16 games against German opponents, six more than any other country.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Borussia Dortmund has only lost two of their past 14 UEFA Champions League home games (W8 D4), albeit one of those defeats was against Manchester City in April 2021. (1-2 in the quarter-final second leg).

Maccabi Haifa vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain and Maccabi Haifa have previously met three times, with each team winning one game and drawing one. PSG defeated Haifa 3-1 away on MD2 of this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Maccabi Haifa is winless in three away European games (including qualifiers) in France (D1 L2), having only avoided defeat in their previous visit to PSG in the Cup Winners’ Cup in September 1998. Marco Simone gave PSG the lead, but Yossi Benayoun equalized with three minutes remaining.

Paris Saint-Germain has only lost one of their past 32 UEFA Champions League group stage games at the Parc des Princes (W25 D6), with their lone setback coming against Manchester United in October 2020. (1-2). Over the course of 32 games, the French team has scored 86 goals, averaging 2.7 goals per game.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Following their triumph over Juventus last time out, Maccabi Haifa might become the first Israeli team to win successive UEFA Champions League matches.

Juventus vs. Benfica

Benfica has won all three of their European home matches against Juventus, including a 2-0 win in the European Cup semi-final in 1968, a 2-1 win in the UEFA Cup in 1993, and a 2-1 win in the Europa League in 2014.

Juventus has only won one of its seven European games against Benfica (D1 L5), a 3-0 UEFA Cup triumph in March 1993 with goals from Jurgen Kohler, Dino Baggio, and Fabrizio Ravanelli.

For the second straight season, Benfica hopes to reach the UEFA Champions League knockout stages. They have only previously emerged from the group stages in back-to-back editions once, in 2015-16 and 2016-17, both under Rui Vitória.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW? Juventus have only won two of their past eight road trips to Portuguese sides (D2 L4), and they haven’t won in either of their last two UEFA Champions League outings – 1-1 v Sporting CP in October 2017 and 1-2 v FC Porto in February 2021.
