2022 English Open Preview:

The Home Nations Series resumes with the 2022 English Open, which will feature a superb cast. The major acts include Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump, with Neil Robertson, Mark Selby, John Higgins, Mark Williams, and recent Scottish Open champion Gary Wilson also in attendance.

A string of upsets at the start of the 2022-23 season means that the majority of the tour’s great names are still waiting for a victory. O’Sullivan has two victories to his name, albeit non-ranking titles at the Hong Kong Masters and Champion of Champions, whereas none of the other aforementioned players has had much to celebrate, with the exception of Robertson’s World Mixed Doubles victory with Mink Nutcharut.

Mark Allen, who has won two of the past three rankings tournaments, comfortably leads the one-year list after winning the UK Championship and Northern Ireland Open, while Wilson has risen to sixth after his surprising run to the trophy in Edinburgh.

It leaves O’Sullivan, Selby, Robertson, and Higgins scrambling for a good run in a ranking tournament to guarantee admission into next year’s Players Championship and keep their global ranking. So why not turn it up in the English Open, the final tournament before the tour’s holiday break?

When Will Ronnie O’sullivan And Judd Trump Appear?

On Monday, December 12 at 19:00 GMT, world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan will begin his quest against Belgium’s Ben Mertens. On Wednesday, December 14, the winner will face Dechawat Poomjaeng in the second round.
