The European Championships 25/50m are currently underway in Wroclaw, Poland, with eight spots at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 up for grabs when the finals take place between September 14 and 18. Everything you need to know about the continental qualifier is provided below.
Eight places to the Paris 2024 Olympics in the discipline of shooting are up for grabs at the 2022 European Championships 25/50m, which will be held between September 5 and 18 in Wroclaw, Poland.
While the junior shooters competed first, the seniors begin their campaigns on September 12th, with the all-important medal matches beginning on September 14th.
Each of the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, men’s Rapid Fire Pistol, and women’s 25m Pistol will win two Olympic quota spots at the next edition of the Olympic Games in Paris.
The Paris 2024 Qualifier disciplines will be streamed live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com (territorial restrictions apply).
In addition to the individual contests, there will be men’s team events in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol and 50m Rifle 3 Positions, women’s team events in the 25m Pistol and 40m Rifle 3 Positions, and mixed team events in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, 50m Rifle 3 Positions, and 50m Rifle Prone. These do not provide direct Olympic quota places.

As a direct Paris 2024 qualifier with eight Olympic spots on offer, the 2022 European Championships 25/50m are an important event on the Road To Paris.
The top two athletes in each of the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions, men’s Rapid Fire Pistol, and women’s 25m Pistol will earn slots for their country at the next Olympic Games in Paris, providing they are not from the same country. A country can only win one qualification spot in any event at a single championship.
In the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event, 56 athletes will compete for Olympic qualification spots, while another 120 will compete in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. There will be 62 women competing in the 25m Pistol and 120 competing in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
When and where will the European Championships 25/50m be held in 2022?
Senior competition begins in earnest on September 12th, with the women’s 25m Pistol final taking place on September 14th. The competition concluded on September 18 with the men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team final.
The entire tournament will be held at the WKS lsk Wrocaw shooting range in the Polish city of Wroclaw.
Athletes to watch at the 25/50m rifle and pistol shooting European Championships in 2022
Following his gold medal in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol competition at Tokyo 2020 in 2021, France’s Jean Quiquampoix will be aiming for a top spot on the podium. The 26-year-old shooter won silver in Rio in 2016 and will be eager to impress as he seeks a second consecutive gold medal at his home Games in Paris.
Another Olympic champion, Nina Christen of Switzerland, has confirmed her participation in Poland. Christen returned from Japan with two medals: gold in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions and bronze in the 10m Air Rifle. At the 2019 European Games in Minsk, she also won mixed team gold in 50m Rifle Prone.
Greece’s Rio 2016 25m Pistol champion Anna Korakaki, who also won bronze in the 10m air pistol discipline in Brazil, is another gold medal contender. The athlete bears the distinction of becoming the first female Olympic athlete torchbearer in an Olympic torch relay.
British aspirations will rest on the shoulders of athletes such as Seonaid McIntosh, who won gold in the 50m Rifle Prone at the 2018 World Championships in Changwon, as well as bronze in the women’s team 50m Rifle Prone. She will compete in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the European Championships.
