The WRC Ypres Rally Belgium 2022 is just around the corner and promises to be an exciting event with many teams and drivers competing for the win. This year’s rally will mark the return of the World Rally Championship to Belgium after a five-year absence. The last time the WRC was in Belgium was in 2013 when Sebastien Ogier took the victory.
This year’s rally will be based out of the city of Ypres and will consist of 19 stages totaling over 300 kilometers. This will be the first time that the WRC has visited Belgium since the country last hosted a round of the championship in 2008.
The rally will take place from August 18th to 21st and feature a mix of asphalt and gravel stages. The event will start with a ceremonial start in Ypres on Thursday evening before getting underway for real on Friday morning.
As usual, there will be a mix of World Rally Cars, R5 cars, and historic cars participating in the event. Some big names included reigning champion Ott Tanak, Elfyn Evans, Thierry Neuville, and Kris Meeke.
The Ypres Rally has a long and storied history dating back to the 1920s. It was first run as a winter rally before becoming a summer event in the 1930s. The rally was a round of the European Rally Championship from 1955-1972 and then became a round of the World Rally Championship from 1973-2008.
Since its return to the WRC calendar, the Ypres Rally has been held every year without fail and has become one of the most popular events on the calendar. Thanks to its unique mix of stages, it always produces exciting racing and is sure to highlight the 2022 season.

The competition was fierce from start to finish, with drivers pushing their cars to the limit in order to secure a top spot. In the end, Ott Tänak came out on top, with Sebastien Ogier in second and Esapekka Lappi in third.
The scenery was also something to behold. The rally took place in and around the city of Ypres, which is located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The town is famous for its beautiful architecture and its history of wartime bloodshed.
