The Hockey World Cup 2023 is in its 15th edition and will be played in India. In November 2019, the country automatically qualified as a host. In September of last year, we held the Pool draw. The 2018 World Cup was won by Belgium, who are the defending champions, as they defeated the Netherlands 3-2 in a penalty shootout. Australia came in third.

The 15th FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will begin on January 13 in India. To defend their title, Belgium will compete in the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023, where oddsmakers see Australia as the tournament’s top pick.
Hosts India, who last won the trophy in 1975, is also among the favourites, but skipper Harmanpreet Singh and Co. will need to play their best hockey on January 29 in front of their fans in order to win it.

Dates of Hockey World Cup 2023
In 2023, the men’s FIH hockey world cup will begin on January 13 and end on January 29 with the final.
Venue Hockey World Cup 2023
Odisha, an Indian state, has been selected to host the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup. Both the Bhubaneswar Kalinga Stadium and the Rourkela Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium will host the contests.
The Groups and Structure
The Hockey World Cup will feature 16 different national teams. These groups of teams have been randomly assigned to one of four pools of four.
In the pool stage, each team will play the others once, and the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. Four additional teams will advance to the quarterfinals via cross-overs between the second and third-placed teams in each pool.
- Pool A: Australia, Argentina, France, and South Africa.
- Pool B: Belgium, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.
- Pool C: Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Chile.
- Pool D: India, England, Spain, and Wales.
