The 2022 MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix will take place in 2022. This race will be held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy and spectators can enjoy watching the races from September 4.

Following his excellent podium performance at the Red Bull Ring last time out, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo leads the title by an impressive 32 points over Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro.

Another 12 points behind are Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia, who has won the last three races in a row to reclaim the title.

Bagnaia’s achievements have also helped Ducati go ahead of Aprilia in the teams’ standings, leading the manufacturers’ championship.

Suzuki’s Joan Mir will not compete in Misano due to an ankle injury sustained in Austria and will be replaced by endurance rider Kazuki Watanabe.

The San Marino Grand Prix at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is MotoGP’s second visit to Italy, following the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello in May.

It is the first Misano race since 2017 that does not feature home hero Valentino Rossi, who is from nearby Tavullia. Still the event is nevertheless expected to generate a lot of buzz in the surrounding area.

Fabio Quartararo’s damage-limiting second at the last Austrian GP puts him 32 points ahead of Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro at Misano, where he won the world title last year.

Francesco Bagnaia on the Ducati 2022 won for the third time in a row at the Red Bull Ring and is now only 44 points behind the championship lead heading into an event he won last season.

The return of MotoGP to Misano will be without 2020 world champion Joan Mir, a podium finisher at the track in 2020, who sustained an ankle injury at the Austrian GP.

He will be replaced by Suzuki endurance racer Kazuki Watanabe, who will make his MotoGP debut this weekend after competing in five Grand Prix in the 250cc/Moto2 class in 2009 and 2010.

Mir’s MotoGP future was confirmed with Honda earlier this week, while Enea Bastianini was named to the factory Ducati squad and RNF Aprilia’s all-new 2023 lineup was unveiled.
