Fight Preview:

Sean O’Malley will also be taking on former Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan in the octagon for the biggest challenge of his career, so this is not a fight card to be missed!

Ultimate Fighting Championship returns live from Abu Dhabi with UFC 280: Oliveira Makhachev. The UFC Bantamweight and Lightweight Championships will be fought in the co-main event and main event, respectively, on the 12-bout bill.

Charles Oliveira, 33-8, forfeited the UFC Lightweight Championship after failing to make weight at UFC 274. He’s the promotion’s top-ranked Lightweight, with 21 wins by submission, the most in the promotion’s history, and he’s on an 11-fight winning run. Since 2017, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist has not lost.

Islam Makhachev, the promotion’s #4 rated Lightweight, is earning his maiden title shot at 22-1. He has a 10-fight winning streak and hasn’t lost since 2015. Not to be outdone, the wrestling specialist has ten submission victories.

One of the biggest fights of the fall is the Bantamweight Championship fight between champion Aljamain Sterlings and TJ Dillashaw. Sterling, who is 21-3, has been champion since March 2021, when he defeated Peter Yan by DQ. Dillashaw is a former two-time Bantamweight Champion, and this is his third fight since losing the title to Henry Cejudo in 2019.

The main event is set to take place in Abu Dhabi, with Petr Yan against Sean O’Malley also on the stacked program.

Oliveira vs. Makhachev should be an exciting match.

‘Do Bronx’ enters the battle on a high note, having defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 274 in May.

However, he failed to make weight in that title fight and was stripped of the UFC Lightweight Championship. He’ll now try to restore his throne.

Makhachev has a record of 22 wins and one defeat, and he recently KO’d Bobby Green.
