LFA 144 main event will be a bantamweight world title fight between two of the division’s most exciting prospects. LFA 144 will be the state’s sixteenth LFA event, with the main event crowning the eighth 135-pound champion in LFA history.
LFA 144, the first live MMA event on FIGHT PASS to be included in Meta Horizon Worlds, will take place on Friday, Oct. 14, at 9 p.m. ET from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The main event will feature a bantamweight world title battle between two of the division’s most exciting prospects, Muin “Tajik” Gafurov of Tajikistan and Diego “Magrinho” Silva of Brazil.
Fans will enter an immersive atmosphere in Meta Horizon Worlds, where they will be able to see and communicate with other fans in real-time, as well as enjoy unprecedented VR views of all the exhilarating action in the LFA Octagon, including strikes, takedowns, grappling, and more.
LFA 144 will be produced by YBVR in VR180, a virtual reality video format that provides spectators with a 180-degree overview of the event.

LFA 144 Gafurov vs Silva Preview:
Gafurov (17-4) joined the LFA as a national hero in Tajikistan, where he is one of the country’s most distinguished combat sports athletes. Tajikistan is a mountainous Central Asian country that enjoys combat sports. In fact, the country designated gushtigiri, a type of traditional wrestling, as its national sport. Naturally, Gafurov abandoned a brilliant soccer career after deciding he was a better combatant.
Two Combat Sambo World Championships, a FILA World Grappling Title, six bouts for Asia’s biggest MMA company ONE, and a nine-year professional MMA career in 11 nations round out the 26-year-resume. old’s The Dana White’s Contender Series alum made his LFA debut with a shocking knockout of Herbeth Sousa at LFA 134 and now aims to follow in the footsteps of his colleague Zviad Lazishvili by claiming the LFA bantamweight title at the Sanford Pentagon.

Silva (15-7) also signed with the LFA this spring, joining the organization as one of Brazil’s most promising bantamweight prospects. In the red-hot pressure cooker of the Brazilian MMA scene, the decorated Brazilian began honing his combat talents. There, he obtained black belts in both Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre, his country’s two most well-known contributions to modern-day MMA.
Over the last decade, the 28-year-old has used his expertise in both martial arts to gain fifteen victories. “Magrinho” has competed in competitions all around the world. His career started in Brazil and has since brought him to Portugal, Finland, Spain, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Silva amassed a slew of hardware along the way, earning him a shot at the crown in May. He lost a split decision against Dan Argueta (who was shortly hired by the UFC), but promptly returned with a victory over Askar Askar at LFA 138.
