Combat FC 3 Preview:

Joe Cavallaro and his Combat FC team kick off the New Year on Friday, February 10th, live on UFC Fight pass from their home at Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with Combat FC 3. Following Cavallaro’s return to the New England MMA World in 2022, it goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway: Combat FC has been a smashing success from the start, and February 10th could very well be their most intriguing lineup to date! Combat FC 3 will showcase the deepest, most talented fight card in my 10-year history of following this sport in New England.

Combat FC 3 will feature some of the country’s finest unsigned talents, including former Bellator and LFA star Solo Hatley Jr. (10-6) who will compete at Featherweight in the Co-Main event against Teixeira MMA’s (Connecticut) Regivaldo Cavalho (6-4). Terrance “T-Bone” Jean-Jacques (8-3) of New England MMA meets Dirlei Broenstrup (17-9) in a fight that has the potential to take Jean-Jacques to the next level. Former CFFC upstart and current NEF Welterweight Champion Jon “War Hawk” Piersma (5-1) of New York squares off against two-time Combat FC Alum (2-0); Sanad Armouti (3-1) in a Welterweight bout with “call up” implications.

Top prospects in the region; lightweight Mo Al Kinani (4-1) vs. Robert Wusstig (7-11) makes his New England MMA debut, Welterweight Mike Bezanson (1-0) hosts Nebraska’s John Bell (4-1 as an Amateur) and 27-year-old Billerica, Massachusetts fan-favourite Jake “The Gorilla” Pilla (2-0) meets late replacement Seth Basler (3-12) at 140 pounds. All of this leads up to the main event, in which Cyprus native Charalampos Grigrious (6-3) battles New York’s Chris “Showbiz” Disonell for Combat FC’s inaugural Professional Bantamweight title (6-5)

“I do not envy the Combat FC team and the UFC Fight pass producers who are left to determine which of these fights make it to the Fightpass section of the program,” I thought after taking a quick glance at this card. And, after speaking with Matchmaker Rick Caldwell earlier this week, the fights must be narrowed down to eight guaranteed Fightpass slots, with two fights shown on the UFC Fight pass social media outlets during an hour-long lead-up to the main card, then six fights to follow on the UFC Fight pass streaming platform, with one fight being a “swing” fight that will take place on either the Social Media or the Streaming side, depending on time. Combat FC 3 will be streamed live on UFC Fight pass beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern time, with UFC Strawweight Michelle Waterson joining Sean Wheelock on the call. Although the roster has not yet been finalized, I put on my production hat for this post and examine the complete Combat FC card from top to bottom.
