After having played in Abu Dhabi the best Grand Slam ever, the Italian national judo team is preparing to face a new trip to the 2022 Judo Grand SlamBaku from 4 to 6 November for the third to last seasonal event of the World Tour 2022.
There are 19 blue judokas enrolled in the Azerbaijani Grand Slam, 10 of which are men and 9 women, with the presence of almost all the big names in the tricolor movement. However, the absences of Angelo Pantano, Elios Manzi, Assunta Scutto, and Giulia Carnà stand out, as well as the injured Fabio Basile.
Worth noting is the debut in the major circuit of the 19-year-old Sara Lisciani, bronze medal in the 63 kg at the last two consecutive editions of the European Junior Championships. An important opportunity for many Italian athletes in the Olympic qualification path towards Paris 2024, also because the blue team should not go to Tokyo for the next Grand Slam.
