Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva Preview

The event that will be headlined by Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and UFC legend Anderson “The Spider” Silva has already become the highest-grossing boxing event in terms of ticket revenue in the history of Desert Diamond Arena (formerly Gila River Arena), and it is the second highest-grossing ticket event across all combat sports with only six days left until fight night.

On October 29 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. P.T., the arena outside Phoenix, Arizona, will host the eight-round cruiserweight match as part of a Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) event airing live on SHOWTIME PPV.

As fight week begins, the event’s total ticket revenue ranks higher than any previous boxing event in the arena. It is currently sandwiched between two UFC events, with only UFC 263 grossing more. UFC 263 featured MMA superstar Nate Diaz and a rematch between middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.

Regarding ticket sales, Paul vs. Silva has already surpassed the previous record holder for the city, UFC on Fox 29, which featured the debut bout between Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori and was headlined by a lightweight bout between future champion Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

Helwani will be the ringside reporter and conduct all interviews before and after the fight.
Paul has chosen his opponents wisely up to this point. Every new bout is a more significant skill test, but this one has some particular aspects.

The most crucial factor is the size. Before this bout, Paul had always faced an opponent significantly smaller than him. Paul weighs 190 pounds for a fight, but his most recent opponent, UFC legend Tyron Woodley, competed at 170 pounds during his prime.

By competing at a weight of 185 pounds, Silva won the UFC middleweight title. In addition, he frequently competed in the UFC’s light heavyweight division after moving up to that weight class. At 205 pounds, he had arguably his best performance ever, a spectacular knockout of former champion Forrest Griffin in 2009.

Silva, unlike Woodley, has actual boxing experience. Lately, he’s been putting a lot of time and effort into the sport, and it’s paid off with a string of impressive victories. When it comes to striking, Silva is among the all-time greats.

Of course, Silva is 47 years old as well. That’s getting pretty stale. Combat sports are centuries old. No, he’s not your typical 47-year-old, but age is still a huge factor.
