Discuss Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars

On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1, 0-0-1 AFC South) will travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to take on the Jaguars (0-1-0, 0-0 AFC South) in a matchup between the two divisional foes. The Colts’ first season game was a tie with the Texans, 20 to 20. Indy had 517 yards of total offense but wasted it by committing two turnovers.

In their season opener, Jacksonville was defeated by the Washington Commanders by a score of 28-22. Jacksonville was successful in causing three turnovers for Washington, but the team was unable to capitalize. The game will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Colts have a potent attack to open the season

The Colts offense was spectacular, but the game ended in a draw for Indianapolis. After one week, the Indianapolis Colts have the best total offense in the NFL, with 517 yards. This includes 177 yards on the ground and 340 yards through the air.

Matt Ryan, the starting quarterback, threw for 351 yards, scored one touchdown, and threw an interception. Currently, Jonathan Taylor has rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown on 5.2 yards per carry. Michael Pittman Jr. (inactive) is the team’s top receiver with nine catches for 121 yards and a 13.4-yard average per reception. Pitman has caught one touchdown pass so far. Without his go-to receiver, Ryan will need to look elsewhere for scoring opportunities.

After one week, Indianapolis’ defense ranks 12th in the league, having given up 299 total yards (77 on the ground and 222 through the air). In their first game against Houston, Indianapolis’ defense restricted Houston to 2.8 yards per carry. The Colts are led by linebacker Zaire Franklin’s 8 tackles and defensive end Kwity Paye’s 2 QB sacks. In their season opener, Indianapolis did not record an interception.

Jacksonville’s defense needs some work.

After allowing Washington to gain 390 yards of total offense in Week 1, Jacksonville is currently 28th in the NFL in terms of defense. The Jaguars gave up 305 yards in the air and 85 yards on the ground. Devin Lloyd, a linebacker for Jacksonville, has made 11 tackles, making him the team leader.

Travon Walker recorded the lone sack of the quarterback for Jacksonville in the season opener, and he and Tyson Campbell each picked off a pass for the Jaguars.

After the first week of the NFL season, Jacksonville’s offense ranks 13th. Including 123 yards on the ground and 260 yards through the air, the Jaguars’ total offense in Week 1 was 383 yards. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 275 yards, scoring once and picking off once.

James Robinson has 66 yards and a touchdown on the ground, and Travis Etienne Jr. has 47 yards. Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk leads all receivers with six catches for 117 yards, while Zay Jones is second with six catches for 65 yards.

Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars Date / Final score

2016/27- 30*

Although the final score of 20-20 did not go Indy’s way, the Colts performed effectively on both sides of the ball in their season opener. The Colts had 517 yards of total offense, with 161 of those yards coming from Jonathan Taylor on the ground. After week one of the season, the Colts’ defense ranked 12th. Six of Indianapolis’ last eight road games had their point totals covered, and 18 of the Colts’ last 26 road games had their point totals covered when playing against a home club with a losing record.

In contrast, Jacksonville has lost 8 of their previous 9 games against the spread. In Week 1, Jacksonville allowed 390 yards of total offense to Washington; this week, they welcome Indianapolis and quarterback Matt Ryan and running back Jonathan Taylor will lead an even more potent offense.

Bet the Colts minus the points.

Each of the previous four away games Indy has played and each of the last six games Indy has played as a favorite, has ended with a total of under. In 15 of the last 22 meetings between Indianapolis and Jacksonville, they reached the final score. Also, in five of Jacksonville’s last six home games, the total went under.

Bet against them and take the under (45.5).

My prediction: 45.5 or less
