Eight of the top nine players in the Official World Golf Rankings are among the best contenders in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. Defending champions Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and Rory McIlroy are among the best names to keep an eye on. Unsurprisingly, Scheffler, Rahm, and McIlroy are the event’s favourites.
The Official World Golf Rankings are used to determine to qualify. The top 64 OWGR players are qualified to participate in the tournament. However, Justin Thomas and Justin Rose have removed their names from consideration for this year’s tournament.

2023 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play Format
The 64-player field has been divided into 16 groups of four competitors. Wednesday-Friday, players compete against everyone in their division in match play, earning one point for a win and a half point for a tie. In each group, the player with the most points advances to the knockout stages. The sudden-death stroke play is used for the group playoff.
The Round of 16 and quarterfinal events take place on Saturday, with the semifinal, third-place, and final matches taking place on Sunday.
