Argentine sensation Leandro Paredes Transfer news: Joins Juventus

Juventus have reportedly finalized their agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Leandro Paredes, on loan with an obligation to buy for €15m plus another €5m in bonuses.

The deal was finally done the last night, and he underwent his medical in Paris this afternoon.

The Argentina international is now en route to Turin, where he hopes to sit in the stands for this evening’s Serie A match against Spezia at the Allianz Juventus Stadium.

Per protocol, Juventus released a statement with a detailed financial outline of the agreement, as the club is floated on the stock exchange.

It is a loan with an obligation to buy if particular sporting objectives are achieved in the 2022-23 campaign, but Juve also has the option to make a move permanent.

In both cases, the total figure will be €22.6m to be paid in three installments, plus up to €3m in performance-related bonuses.

As part of the agreement, if Juventus do not choose to purchase Paredes, they will still owe PSG a figure of €2.5m

The Argentina international had agreed on personal terms with Juve many weeks ago. This move took so long because the Bianconeri needed to release some of their midfield players to make room and balance the books.

Paredes will be the second PSG player to join Juventus this summer, following his good friend and fellow Argentine Angel Di Maria.

He was not even called up for Paris Saint-Germain’s match because coach Christophe Galtier confirmed the player already had his mind on Juve.

It is a return to Serie A for Paredes, as the 28-year-old has already played for Chievo, Empoli, and Roma until leaving for Zenit St Petersburg in 2017.
