Erik ten Hag confirms Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at the club
The information that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window was disclosed by Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo wished to leave Old Trafford earlier this summer to play in the Champions League. Even though he was strongly associated with clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea, all potential big-name suitors decided against pursuing a transfer.
Ten Hag has now announced that Ronaldo will remain with the club, despite Napoli and Ronaldo’s former club Sporting CP reportedly discussing the possibility of a transfer recently.
“Evidently, this is the case. We need players who are of high caliber. In order to maintain the same level of uniformity throughout all of the games, you require additional resources. That is the goal that we aim for, “he stated.
Ten Hag was also asked about the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, to which he responded by saying, “This squad will play from September to January, at a least, this season.”
Marcus Rashford has started up top for United in their last two games, and the Red Devils have looked like a more coherent attacking unit in both of those games. Ronaldo has only started one game for United so far this season, and that game was a 4-0 thumping away at Brentford.
On Thursday, United will make the trip to Leicester City in the Premier League to achieve a three-game winning streak for the first time since December of last year.
