The 2022 UCI Track World Championships take place from Wednesday, 12 October, to Sunday, 16 October. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) hosts a series of track cycling competitions that are recognized as the world championships in their respective categories.
UCI Track World Championships Preview
The first edition of the event, which was a competition for amateur cyclists and which, through the years, evolved into a contest for professionals, was held in Chicago in 1893. The Championships are currently comprised of the following competitions, each of which has a separate men’s and women’s category: the time trial, the keirin, the individual pursuit, the team pursuit, the points race, the scratch race, the sprint, the team sprint, the omnium, and the madison. Riders are selected to compete in the Championships based on their country of origin. The winners of each competition receive a gold medal and a rainbow-coloured jersey that is easily identifiable.
The event will be held from October 12-16, 2022, at the Vélodrome de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, France. It will be the 119th time it has been staged.
