The UCI BMX Racing World Cup season 2022 comes to a close in Bogota, Colombia, which hosts the final two rounds of the eight-stop series.

This event is part of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup, a season-long BMX tournament organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale, cycling’s global governing organization (UCI).

Rounds 7 and 8 of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup Series will be contested at Pista De Bicicross in Bogota, Colombia, in 2022. The country is well-known for its love of cycling!

On Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, you may watch live via Olympic Channel on Olympics.com and the Olympics YouTube website.

On September 24 and 25, the Parque El Salitre track hosted rounds 5 and 6.

The women’s elite World Cup rankings are presently led by four-time winner Laura Smulders of the Netherlands and 2017 series champion Sylvain Andre of France.

And, with 1,000 points on the line in the season’s final two races, the successors to last year’s overall champions, Mariana Pajon and Simon Marquart, will be chosen next weekend.

Riders will also compete in Bogota for points for their NOCs in the UCI BMX Racing Olympic ranking ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Rounds 7 and 8 How to Watch UCI BMX Racing World Cup in Bogota in 2022:

Rounds 7 and 8 will be televised live on Olympics.com and the Olympics YouTube channel from Bogota on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, at 3 p.m. local time in Colombia (8 p.m. UTC).

This means that the races in all four categories will be broadcast live, beginning with the quarter-finals.

The live stream may be subject to territorial restrictions, but coverage is expected to be available worldwide.

The format of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup in 2022:

Each of the eight World Cup events awards 500 points to the winner, with riders from second to eighth receiving 430, 370, 318, 273, 235, 202, and 174 points, respectively. Any riders who are eliminated before the final will be granted points based on the round in which they were eliminated and their placing in those races.

The top athlete is awarded World Cup champion after completing the eight World Cup rounds.

Rounds 7 and 8 of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup Bogota: Top Stars to Watch:

Laura Smulders is almost sure to win her fifth World Cup series title in a season in which she has finished on the podium in all six events, with three victories and three seconds.

In the World Cup standings, the Dutch Olympic medalist is followed by Zoe Claessens, but the Swiss rider will have to make up a 672-point deficit and is unlikely to challenge the leader.

The same can be said about Olympic and European champion Bethany Shriever, who now sits third overall, 985 points behind Smulders after defeating her in round five.

Double Olympic winner Pajón finished sixth and fifth in the previous two stages in Bogota and will be looking to excite the local audience, while two-time world champion Alise Willoughby, who just landed on the podium in Colombia, will also be watching.

Andre leads American revelation Cameron Wood by 465 points in the men’s field.

In round 6, the 21-year-old from Arizona won his first World Cup, marking his third consecutive podium result and propelling him into the second position in the men’s elite ranking.

Niek Kimmann, the Tokyo 2020 gold medalist and previous world champion, won his first race in 16 months in round 5. The Dutchman, who failed to qualify for the final in round 6, will be one to watch, as will European champion Kye Whyte, who finished fourth in round 5, and Isaac Kennedy of Australia. He has three podium places this season.

The final two rounds of the UCI BMX Racing World Cup 2022 will take place at the Parque El Salitre circuit in Bogota, Colombia. This track also served as the venue for rounds 5 and 6, which were held on September 24 and 25. Laura Smulders of the Netherlands, a four-time winner, and Sylvain Andre of France, the 2017 series champion, currently lead the women’s and men’s elite World Cup standings. The final two rounds will determine the series winner, with 1000 points on the line. Riders in Bogota will also compete for points for their national Olympic committees in the UCI BMX Racing Olympic ranking ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
