Massive WBA WBO title fight Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Jamaine Ortiz head-to-head will happen this weekend. Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko returns to the ring for some unfinished business after battling for his country against Russian aggression. On October 29, the former WBA, WBO, and The Ring lightweight champion will meet Jamaine Ortiz.
Vasiliy Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KO), a former three-division champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, will make his long-awaited comeback to the boxing arena on Saturday. Loma will meet up-and-coming lightweight contender Jamaine Ortiz (16-0-1, 8 KO) in the headline bout on ESPN at Madison Square Garden.
Ortiz is coming off the biggest win of his career, a victory against former champion Jamel Herring in May. Lomachenko’s last bout hasn’t been the longest in his career since his last bout. Still, it’s noteworthy because the Ukrainian fighter stayed in his native country to help battle the Russian invasion.
In the meanwhile, he passed up an opportunity to compete for the undisputed lightweight title, but he may receive another shot depending on the outcome of his fight with Ortiz.
Lomachenko returns to the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. He will be competing in New York for the sixth time.
Lomachenko fought his way back to the top after losing lightweight gold to Teofimo Lopez in 2020. Before fighting for Ukraine, he defeated Masayoshi Nakatani and Richard Commey. Lomachenko’s mission remains unchanged.

Ortiz made his professional debut in 2016. Ortiz defeated Mahir Albright and Jamel Herring in 2022 after drawing with Joseph Adorno. Herring, a former super-featherweight champion, announced his retirement following the defeat.

Vasyl Lomachenko and Jermaine Ortiz held their final press conference today before of their main event fight on ESPN this Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Ortiz (5’8′′, 16-0-1, 8 KOs) towered over the shorter Lomachenko (5’7′′), seeming much higher than their official heights. Lomachenko will have to figure out how to deal with Ortiz’s height and reach because it will be difficult.
