Super middleweight eight-round main event: Hemphill vs Stevens
After a successful amateur career, Hemphill made his professional debut this year and has since won 14 straight times. Hemphill defeated Jeyson Minda 8-0 in front of his home city of New Orleans in his previous fight over a year ago in January. 27-year-old “Silky” fought three times in 2021, four times in 2020, and six fights in 2019. Hemphill has never faced an opponent without a loss before, but Stevens will change that.
Adam Glenn, son of the late Jimmy Glenn (manager of Hemphill) and owner of the legendary Jimmy’s Corner pub in Manhattan’s Midtown, is a well-known character in the world of boxing and is a prominent presence in the city’s bar scene. During his excellent amateur career (55-12), Hemphill was a part of Team USA and eventually became one of the best light heavyweights in the country. The term “Silky” is a combination of his father’s kickboxing moniker (“Spyder”) and his silky fighting technique; spiders spin silk, after all.
Light Heavyweight Fight: Eight Rounds, Oberlton vs Brusov
Oberlton, only 24 years old, has already won three times in 2022. His most recent victory came through a technical knockout in the second round against Christian Thomas. Oberlton, an avid amateur, fought in over a hundred bouts, winning several tournaments. He competed and twice won the U.S. National Junior Olympics and the National Golden Gloves. Although he finished second at the U.S. Olympic Trials and was a heavy favourite to make the 2020 Olympic squad, Oberlton has decided to pursue a professional career instead.

On January 20, he will feel perfectly at home because Gonzalez is from Reading, Pennsylvania, around 40 miles from Bethlehem. During his two bouts at Wind Creek Events Center, the 21-year-old knocked out his opponents in the first and second rounds. A powerful puncher, Gonzalez has won all eight fights by knockout. All eight of his victories have occurred in the first two rounds. On December 10, 2021, Gonzalez defeated Eric Manriquez via second-round technical knockout to cap a five-fight professional debut. Gonzalez’s only loss is a six-round tie with Cuban prodigy Ivan Jimenez. Gonzalez, also known as “Gifted” in the ring, has trained with Stephen Fulton Jr. of Philadelphia, the current undisputed world champion at 122 pounds.
