Ryan Rozicki vs Arturs Gorlov Preview:

Rozicki is now 27 years old and has an outstanding 16-1 record with 15 knockouts. He clearly has a powerful punch, as he has stopped 15 of his 17 opponents thus far, 14 of them were stopped in the opening three rounds. He’s only boxed 55 rounds since turning pro in 2016 following a brief amateur career, but he’s mostly faced domestic opposition in Canada. His most notable fight was for the inaugural Bridgerweight title in October 2021, when he was defeated by Oscar Rivas in a 12-round unanimous decision.

The only other time Rozicki went the distance was last May when he defeated Yamil Peralta in a 10-round split decision for the vacant WBC International Cruiserweight Belt. However, Peralta’s side disputed the decision, and a WBC panel examined the bout and determined that the title remained vacant because all three judges were from Canada and some hometown cooking may have been involved.

Rozicki won the vacant NABA Cruiserweight Title in 2018 by stopping Abokan Bopke in the first round, then a year later he stopped Shawn Miller in the third round to win the vacant WBC International Silver Cruiserweight Belt. In 2021, he defeated Sylvera Louis in the sixth round to win the NABA Cruiserweight Belt. Unfortunately, no reach information is available for Rozicki, but he is reported as 6 feet-2 inches tall.
Ryan Rozicki will return to the ring on Saturday, more than two months after his first-round knockout victory against Mario Aguilar in front of his hometown supporters in Sydney.

The Sydney Forks professional boxer will face Arturs Gorlov of Latvia in a cruiserweight main bout at the Hamilton Convention Centre on Saturday Night Fights, presented by Three Lions Promotions.

Rozicki (16-1-0, 15 KOs) is six-foot-two and last fought on December 2 at Centre 200, where he knocked out Aguilar (22-8-0) in two minutes and 19 seconds.

Gorlov (10-2-1, 8KOs) is six-foot-four and hasn’t fought since Oct. 8, when he defeated Mariano Angel Gudino (14-6-0) in his birthplace of Riga, Latvia. This will be his first bout in Canada.

Rozicki anticipates a “very tough fight.”

“I have a feeling he’s coming to knock me out, and he has the appropriate technique to accomplish it if he can get through my skill set and power,” Rozicki said. “I know he’s a natural heavyweight and has about two inches on me in height, so that offers a major obstacle.”

Gorlovs is a former world champion kickboxer, which Rozicki admitted.

“He’s used to absorbing kicks to the head and body, so he’ll be quite durable,” Rozicki added. “The game plan is the same as it has always been. Stay cool and pay attention to my corner. Finish the struggle and put him down when the time comes.”

The undercard will start at 8 p.m. Atlantic time, but Rozicki and Gorlov will have plenty of time to prepare with seven bouts scheduled before the main event, which is set to start at 11 p.m. Atlantic time.
