Mark Chamberlain vs Vairo Lenti Preview
Mark Chamberlain, the current champion of the IBF European Lightweight Division, is hoping desperately that an opportunity at the British crown would present itself before the year is over.
Chamberlain (11-0) of Waterlooville earned the IBF European title in his last fight, a stunning points victory over Marc Vidal at Wembley Arena last July. He is now well enough to defend his title against Vairo Lenti (12-0) of Italy in a co-main event at York Hall on Friday, February 17th.
This Friday, February 17, Queensberry returns to York Hall with a live BT Sports broadcast featuring IBF European Lightweight Champion Mark Chamberlain (11-0, 7 KO) and heavyweight challenger David Adeleye (10-0, 9 KO).
The Italian Vairo Lenti, 10-4-1 (1 KO), a former Italian champion who has won his previous three fights and last competed in July, will be facing off against the Waterlooville puncher. Adeleye, a heavyweight from Ladbroke Grove, will be fighting an undefeated opponent in Ukrainian Dmytro Bezus, 10-0 (5 KOs), from Liga, Latvia.
Henry Turner (9-0, 2 KOs), a stylish super lightweight who won the WBC International Silver championship in Dubai in November, will defend his crown in a 10-round bout at York Hall. Chris Bourke (10-1, 6 KOs), a super bantamweight from Streatham, makes his return to action in a 6-round match for the first time since his loss to Marc Leach in a British title fight.
In his fifth four-round bout, exciting super featherweight prospect Royston Barney-Smith (4-0, 2 KOs) will look to make it a triple knockout after scoring quick stoppages in his last two fights. Meanwhile, super welterweight Northampton’s Carl Fail (7-0, 2 KOs) will have his second fight under the Queensberry banner, also over four.
Ezra Taylor (4-0, 3 KOs), a light heavyweight from Nottingham, will have his second six-round combat, while Adan Mohamed, a super bantamweight from Loughton, will have his second six-round bout. Aloys Youmbi, a cruiserweight for Penge, will compete in four-round bouts. Youmbi is 2-1 with two knockouts.
