Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron Preview:

Katie Taylor will meet Chantelle Cameron tonight in a weight-class matchup.

Can Taylor become an unbeaten champion in a different weight class? Will Cameron be too much of a challenge to overcome?

Katie Taylor has fought and defeated some of the top boxers in the world. The same could be said for Chantelle Cameron, who will defend her uncontested super lightweight title against Taylor on May 20.

Taylor battles for the first time in her home country in Dublin. DAZN broadcasts the bout from the 3Arena. The 3Arena can accommodate over 8,000 fight fans.

Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion, turned pro in 2016 and made an immediate impact when she defeated Anahi Ester Sanchez for the WBA lightweight title in 2017. She defeated Jessica McCaskill inside York Hall, which can house 1,200 people, to begin a streak of 14 successful title defences. Taylor may create history by becoming a two-division undisputed champion, from Madison Square Garden to the 3Arena.

“We were worried about selling out York Hall a few years ago,” Taylor told AP News, “and now we’re talking about the 3Arena being too small.”

Cameron has also competed at The O2 Arena and Etihad Arena, in addition to York Hall. The 31-year-old has eight knockout victories and defeated McCaskill to become the undisputed champion in 2022. Cameron, who credits Taylor and Claressa Shields with advancing women’s boxing, is ready to defy the odds and ruin Taylor’s return to Dublin.

“The homecoming, I thought, yeah, let’s just jump in and take Amanda’s (Serrano) spot because I think Katie deserved this homecoming in Dublin,” Cameron said during the pre-fight news conference. “For me, it was a no-brainer. It will undoubtedly be hostile, but it will be tunnel vision, and I will be focused on the task at hand. I’ll put everything else aside; I just have one mission to complete, and that is to win.”
