Ramirez, who was born in Avenal, first became a world champion in 2018 by defeating Maurice Hooker for the WBC super lightweight championship. Ramirez dropped an undisputed championship fight to Josh Taylor by unanimous decision in 2021 but then beat former champion Jose Pedraza in March of the following year.
Commey made the transition to the professional circuit in 2011 and began his career by competing mainly in his native Ghana. He lost the 2016 IBF lightweight championship fight to Robert Easter Jr. but regained it in 2019 with a victory over Isa Chaniev. Commey is 1-1-1 since dropping the title in his second defence to Teofimo Lopez. His most recent bout with Pedraza ended in a stalemate by split decision.
