Jonathan Guidry vs Bermane Stiverne What to say:

Before Deontay Wilder knocked out Stiverne in the first round of their rematch in 2017, Stiverne had held the WBC Heavyweight Title after stopping Chris Arreola in the sixth round of their 2014 fight. At age 44, Stiverne has been very inactive, with only eight bouts since 2012. His 25-5-1 record and 21 knockouts reflect his recent lack of success in the ring: he is 1-4 in his last five fights.

A few years ago, he was supposed to fight Russian Alexander Povetkin, but the bout was cancelled after Povetkin failed a drug test. Stiverne fought bravely but ultimately lost the title to Wilder, claiming after the fight that he was dehydrated. In any case, there was no question after the rematch. In July 2007, Demetrice King stopped Stiverne in the fourth round, marking Stiverne’s first career defeat. After being knocked out by Wilder, he was stopped in the sixth round in 2019 by Joe Joyce, and Bryan beat him in 2018.

After spending some time in Canada fighting, the Haitian-born individual is currently based in Las Vegas. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall, has a 77-inch wingspan, and has only fought 125 professional rounds. His current knockout ratio is 67.8 per cent, and 21 of his 25 wins have come via stoppage. His last knockout was against Arreola in 2014, and four of his five defeats have ended similarly.

While Stiverne is 40 years old, Guidry is only 33, and he enters the ring with an impressive record of 18-1-2, including 11 knockouts. After completing his amateur career in 2014, he made his professional debut and has since fought 88 rounds.

Only 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with a reach of 72 inches, he is dwarfed by Stiverne’s 7 feet, 3-inch stature. Although Guidry’s current knockout ratio is only 52.4%, six of his seven victories have been via knockout in the last year.

In January of last year, Guidry challenged for the WBA regular Heavyweight Belt and lost by a split decision to Trevor Bryan. His second professional fight was a four-round draw with Ronald Baca in 2014 and his sixth-rounder with Keenan Hickmon in 2017. His defeated opponents include Keith Thompson, Quincy Palmer, Cory Phelps, Aaron Chavers, and Rodney Moore.

Jonathan Guidry vs Bermane Stiverne Prediction:

As far as we can tell, even at age 91, Don King is still promoting fight events, although the best fighters in the sport are long gone. Stiverne, now 44, has been inactive and has lost his ability to take a strong shot, but he still maintains excellent power, so he always has a chance. The chances are low, but they aren’t zero. Even if it’s a slight step up in class, Guidry should still win on Saturday night if he doesn’t get sloppy, shows up in subpar shape, and treats the fight like a cakewalk.
Stiverne’s passivity has led to his tank reaching critically low levels.
