Tim Tszyu vs Brian Mendoza Fight Talk:

On Sunday, October 15, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland hosts the main event, which features Tim Tszyu and Brian Mendoza. The bout pits the interim WBC champion of the United States against Australia’s WBO super welterweight champion. The 12-round world championship fight is scheduled.

Tim Tszyu, the unbeaten Australian star, will defend his junior middleweight championship for the first time against Brian Mendoza, who is coming off one of the year’s biggest knockouts. The son of boxing superstar Kostya Tszyu, Tszyu defeated former world champion Tony Harrison to earn the interim championship in March before eliminating Carlos Ocampo in one round in June. When Mendoza defeated Sebastian Fundora in April, he pulled off one of the biggest upsets and best KOs of the year. on SHOWTIME live.

In what is sure to be a historic fight night, two champions will square off. The scary WBC champion Brian “The Giant Killer” Mendoza will fight Tim Tszyu, the recently crowned WBO champion. Tim’s bout against the best in the division launches him into the spotlight. The stakes are “Champion vs Champion,” what are they? Extremely large.

The contest has been scheduled for Sunday, October 15. To give fight fans the chance to see Tim live before he presumably departs the United States for the foreseeable future, No Limit has worked hard to get the event on home soil.

The winner may use the benefits of victory to challenge Terrence Crawford, Jermell Charlo, or Canelo Alvarez in a megafight in 2024. The winner of this fight will climb to boxing aristocracy. Tim Tszyu, though, sees this bout as something special. The most difficult challenge he has encountered is Mendoza. The Giant Killer doesn’t just enter the ring with a championship belt. He possesses terrifying power in both of his hands and a track record of trouncing opponents who were supposed to be unbeatable.

On Sunday, Tim Tszyu and Brian Mendoza will square off, with Tszyu’s super-welterweight title at stake.

Mendoza claimed that his desire to defeat Tszyu was fueled by his two career defeats.

On Sunday at 11 a.m., the action begins, and ABC Sport will be live-blogging from the Gold Coast.

Brian Mendoza, who openly admits to having a large chip on his shoulder, vows to crush Tim Tszyu’s hopes of winning the world title with a merciless display of sustained firepower.

Mendoza (22-2, 16KOs) is confident that when Australian boxing’s rising star puts his WBO super-welterweight belt on the line on the Gold Coast on Sunday, Tszyu (23-0, 17KOs) won’t be able to handle his relentless counterpunching.

After scoring a devastating upset knockout victory over Sebastian Fundora to capture the WBC super-welterweight title, the 29-year-old American is on a high.

“Once he gets you — and he’s a finisher and everything — but just based off the facts I think I have more explosive shots,” Mendoza said on Monday following a training in Sydney.

I have strength, but I’m not just a puncher with strength, is the thing about me. I don’t enter there hoping to get a single shot. You’ll be in pain for 12 rounds.

“I do search for the finisher. I certainly intend to put on a spectacular display. That’s the reason I was initially invited to this nation for this title match.

But I’m in there to beat you up for 12 rounds, or however many rounds are necessary for me to win.

Mendoza says he has the utmost respect for Tszyu, but the bitter memories of two losses in 2019 and 2021 are what are driving him to try to destroy the Sydney slayer’s perfect record.

“The chip on my shoulder is larger. Every time I go out, I have more to prove,” he remarked.

“I always hated to say that, but I had to go through it and experience it because it’s impossible before you taste loss, so I had to do it. It’s incomprehensible. When reality sets in, it kind of defies your belief that it is even conceivable.

So, if you can survive the ups and downs of that roller coaster, there is much more to overcome after that.

“And I just really, really had to dig it out, so that hunger is really what makes the difference here.”

The opportunity for Tszyu to follow in the footsteps of his father Kostya by uniting the division with a victory against Mendoza has been lost due to the WBC’s refusal to remove undisputed champion Jermell Charlo’s title despite the American breaking his agreement to fight Tszyu.

Mendoza had to relinquish his interim title in order to compete against Tszyu for WBO glory, but he has no regrets.

“The way the world works is bizarre. I wasn’t even all that interested in boxing when I was a kid, like a young kid, Mendoza remarked.

“My dad was a major fight fan, and we used to watch Kostya’s world title fights and everything. We would usually go to fight parties and watch the fights and stuff.
