The American further claimed Marshall is resentful of his lack of amateur success.
‘Are you upset because you didn’t win an Olympic gold medal?’ Shields explained. ‘You ought to be. In 2012, you let your entire country down. You lost the first day despite being the favorite. You should be miserable.’
Marshall, on the other hand, maintained that she has always been superior to Shields.
‘I’ve always had Claressa’s phone number,’ she explained. I believe she has improved. I believe she is a completely different person than when we boxed as amateurs.
‘She’s boxing like a pro now, and she’s a better fighter than she was in 2012.’
‘We’ve arrived, and I’m completely transformed, physically and mentally. On September 10, I will be the unquestioned world champion.’
