The IV U-23 Baseball World Cup 2022 will take place in Taipei City on Thursday, October 13.

Format of the Tournament

The Opening Ceremony for the IV U-23 Baseball World Cup will take place on Thursday, October 13, at Tianmu Stadium in the Shilin District of Taipei City. Following the ceremony, the tournament’s first game will take place between the hosts, Chinese Taipei and Colombia. The remaining teams will begin their campaigns on Friday, October 14.

The entirety of the competition for Group B will take place in Tianmu. In contrast, the competition for Group A will be split between the Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung and the Douliou Stadium. In addition, the Super Round and the medal games will take place in Tianmu.

Following the conclusion of play in the groups, the top three teams in each group will move on to the Super Round, while the remaining six teams will compete in the Placement Round. The two teams who end up in first and second place in the Super Round will battle for the title of U-23 World Champions, while the teams that come in third and fourth place will compete for the bronze medal.

The Super Round is planned to take place on October 20, 21, and 22, while the medal games will take place on Sunday, October 23.

Group Stage of the IV U-23 Baseball World Cup in 2022

Group A consists of the following countries: Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Germany, Japan, South Africa, and Venezuela.

Group B consists of the following countries: Australia, Cuba, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, and Puerto Rico.

IV U-23 Baseball World Cup 2022 Schedule

On Thursday, October 13, the competition will begin with the No. 2 team in the world, Chinese Taipei, taking on the No. 11 team in the world, Colombia, at Tianmu Stadium in Taipei City at 6:30 pm local time.

Both squads are members of Group A and will compete for the remainder of their matches in Taichung and Dou Liou. Their remaining opponents will be Japan (ranked first), Venezuela (ranked sixth), Germany (ranked 18th), and South Africa (ranked 26th).

Tianmu Stadium will serve as the location for all Group B’s matches, including those involving the teams ranked third, Korea, fourth Mexico, eighth the Netherlands, ninth Cuba, tenth Australia, and sixteenth Puerto Rico.

In the Super Round, competition will be limited to the top three finishers in each group (20, 21, and 22 October). After the conclusion of the Super Round, the teams that finished in first and second place will compete for the U-23 World Title, and the teams that finished in third and fourth place will play for the bronze medal.

The date for the medal competitions is set for Sunday, October 23.
