Juan Soto’s clutch hit in Game 4 knotted the game, and his taking second on a defensive indifference set up Jake Cronenworth’s two-run single that gave the Padres the lead for good. Meanwhile, Joe Hader, who struggled after being traded by the Brewers, was brilliant against the Dodgers.
Meanwhile, the Phillies simply looked better than the Braves. Coming in as the third club in the NL East and the final team to make the playoffs, Rob Thomson’s team has been spectacular, defeating division winners in St. Louis and Atlanta.
They won by scoring seven, nine, and eight runs, and seemed to suck a very good Braves team dry. Two of their victories came in bullpen games, with Ranger Suarez and Noah Syndergaard both failing to complete four innings.
This series includes two teams on a roll who are vying for their first World Series appearance since 1998 in the case of the Padres and 2009 in the case of the Phillies. The Phillies’ hopes could depend on the shoulders of Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. The arms to watch for the Padres are Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove.
Expect a loud environment whenever these two teams play. For a long time, San Diego and Philadelphia have been deprived of playoff baseball. In 2022, they’re eating well.

Power is a significant disparity between these two squads. The Phillies have an abundance of it. They haven’t even really displayed it in the playoffs yet. Kyle Schwarber has been struggling, while Bryce Harper has provided the majority of the team’s runs.
