Yankees might put 13 pitchers on World Collection roster as Nestor Cortes goals for return

The New York Yankees might add a thirteenth pitcher to their roster for the World Collection in opposition to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

New York had 12 pitchers and 14 place gamers for the AL Championship Collection in opposition to Cleveland after going with 11 pitchers and 15 place gamers for the Division Collection versus Kansas Metropolis.

“Might be 13. We’ll see,” supervisor Aaron Boone mentioned Tuesday.

Left-hander Nestor Cortes, sidelined since Sept. 18 due to a flexor pressure in his pitching elbow, was scheduled to throw batting observe Tuesday and might be added to the roster, which have to be submitted about seven hours earlier than Friday’s opener in Los Angeles.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo, who recovered from two fractured fingers, was added for the collection in opposition to the Guardians together with right-hander Marcus Stroman. New York dropped first baseman Ben Rice and speedy outfielder Duke Ellis.

Along with starters Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt and Luis Gil, the Yankees included right-handers Luke Weaver, Clay Holmes, Tommy Kahnle, Jake Cousins, Ian Hamilton and Marcus Stroman, and left-handers Tim Hill and Tim Mayza in opposition to Cleveland.

Hamilton strained a calf muscle whereas masking first base in Sport 3 final Thursday and was changed the next day by right-hander Mark Leiter Jr.

New York is in search of its twenty eighth title and first since 2009.
